Rome

ROME

The Empire of Order

Where Greece inspired, Rome built.

Its roads united continents. Its laws shaped an empire. Its symbols outlived the men who carried them.

The Weight of Duty
FATUMRoman Empire

The Weight of Duty

He did not obey out of fear.

He obeyed because duty stood above himself.

Rome endured not only through the strength of its legions, but through the discipline of those who swore to serve it.

Eagle
FATUMRoman Empire

Eagle

Guarded to the death by every legion.

The eagle was not a standard.

It was Rome.

Five duties. One destiny.

Each player receives a FATUM card that determines where their Destiny begins. From that point, they must complete all five categories once, following the order established by the cycle.

Each turn, a card presents a choice: use it to fulfil the next duty, or sacrifice immediate progress to activate its tactical ability.

Special cards

Four cards can exceptionally break the ordinary rules of their category. Each special event can occur at most once per game.

EAGLE STANDARD

DISCIPLINA

MARCH OF THE LEGION

Remove the Eagle Standard from the game. Play up to two cards from your hand, one after the other. At most one of them may be used to fulfil a duty; the other must use its ability. Do not replenish your hand between the two plays. Replenish normally afterwards.

ClarificationAQUILA can never fulfil more than one duty during its event.

CAESAR
POMPEY

LEX

CIVIL WAR

If Caesar activates his event while Pompey is placed as a completed LEX duty by an opponent, Pompey is removed from the game and no longer counts as a completed duty. Caesar is placed on the bottom of the deck.

Pompey works in exactly the same way against Caesar.

The affected player must fulfil LEX again before continuing their Destiny.

COLOSSEUM

VIS

MUNERA

Remove the Colosseum from the game. All players return the cards in their hands. Add them to the deck and shuffle. Then each player receives 3 new cards. The Forum remains unchanged.

DISCIPLINA does not protect against MUNERA because it is a collective event.

A special card may still be used normally to fulfil a duty or activate its category's ordinary ability.

If used to trigger its special event, follow the rules in its description.

If a special card becomes a player's initial FATUM card, its special event cannot occur during that game.

RULES

FATUM takes only a few minutes to learn, but every game opens new ways to fulfil Destiny.
